"There's POOP in the bathtub!"

After long and careful contemplation, I have started my very own BLOG!
I've grappled with the idea for a few weeks now. I researched 'how to start a Blog' and immediately realized that I had a lot to learn. It's more technical than just journaling on a regular basis. Bare with me as I learn the ropes....
Like most families, ours has a lot going on. We are a Military Family and have very recently relocated to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia from sunny Panama City, Florida. We are adjusting nicely to our new community and lifestyles.
I have to mention here that after a whole month of living in this house I have made a GLORIOUS discovery.... the Masterbath Tub. I'm a 'shower person' and reserve the bathtub for those rare visits, in search of a quiet oasis, a rare retreat....escape! After giving the master tub a second look this morning I decided to give it a try. I had been battling a 48 hour headache and was desperate for relief. As I submersed myself in the warm water I realized that MY GLORIOUS TUB was designed with arm rests! YESSSSSS! And the tub is DEEP. How deep is this tub? I confess...I got my wet, naked butt out of the tub, tip-toed into my room and grabbed the measuring tape, leaving water drops all over the floor and carpet. Almost 24" . Is that deep? I've always had the standard sized tub and this was deep! I laid a warm wet cloth over my eyes and let the stress and clutter in my brain drift away......"Mommy, Mommy, I get in with you?" I opened my eyes to discover my 2 year old standing next to MY GLORIOUS TUB, stripped of her diaper. Who could resist those big brown eyes and blonde curls? As we sat in MY TUB creating ripples and "BUBBLES" with our fingers, my 5 year old arrived with a wide-eyed, opened mouthed look of SHOCK! How dare we take a bath without inviting her! What kind of mother am I?! In seconds, she was stripped of her usual princess attire and stepping into MY TUB. I immediately realized that MY GLORIOUS TUB had been downgraded to 'our bathtub'. Just as the 3 of us were settling into 'our bathtub' my 5 year old shrieked..."THERE'S POOP IN THE BATHTUB!" Yes, there it was. A rogue floater...small but uninvited nonetheless. I jumped out of 'our bathtub' and helped the girls climb out. Grabbed some towels and realized my headache was gone! It was at that moment I made the decision that YES! I WILL START A BLOG......

Why THE HOBBY MOMMY? Well as a SAHM of 3 Precious Princesses, (yes! ALL girls are princesses)....the MOMMY part is a given!
Dictionary.com defines HOBBY: an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation. I'm not exactly committed to one single HOBBY or pursuit. To begin with, I may actually have split personalities when it comes to my "commitments". I admit that I struggle in the cereal aisle at the grocery store. So much to chose from...what if this box has too much sugar (mom-guilt)? What if I can find this box at another store cheaper? What if I/they don't like it? Do I have a coupon for this box? This one? That one? Wait! "Win a FREE week at SEAWORLD"! The big box? What about the cereal in a bag? OKAY so you get my point? This is a sharp contrast to my decision to marry my AMAZING HUSBAND of 4 months. That commitment was a no brainer. The effortless, follow-your-heart type of decision.
It goes without saying that this BLOG is a HOBBY within itself ;)
My PROJECTS are my HOBBY and my HOBBY is my PROJECTS! I've been told that I am a creative person and I tend to agree, but there is a lot I want to learn.

~I plan to take a sewing for dummies class next month where I'm sure to revisit high school home economics and craft a pillow or two.

~I recently purchased 2 WALLIES big mural prepasted cutout kits. Check out http://www.wallies.com/ . I purchased the Girly Headboard and Fairyland kits and plan to transform the bland vanilla walls of my 2 youngest Princesses room into their very own Royal Kingdom.

~And that masterbath aforementioned, it's a blank canvas. I plan on decorating that warm, quiet oasis, rare retreat....escape! My inspiration is a candle that was part of a wedding gift from a friend.

~I must also confess that I have an obsession with tulle. I love to make tutus for my daughters and their friends. I recently purchased a $20 table from Target and plan to transform it into something TUTULICIOUS for my Princesses Kingdom.

~I'm also throwing on the table the possibility of a Home Party Business. No it's not Mary Kay or Tupperware....stay tuned.

~I guess the most important HOBBY of all is ME! I've recently gained 20+ pounds and am feeling a physical and emotional burden of the extra weight. I really need a REBOOT! I will be giving myself the unusual challenge of THE QUANTUM WELLNESS CLEANSE The 21-Day Guide to Healing Your Body, Mind, and Spirit. New York Times Bestselling Author of QUANTUM WELLNESS Kathy Freston. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=7502258&page=1 Looking at after Labor Day but before Thanksgiving to take this challenge.

~I am on a never ending quest to find affordable activities in my area for my family. I'm excited that the Hampton Roads area is alive with opportunity!

I must repeat that I have a LOT to learn about this new BLOG HOBBY! I will continue to publish my writings as I learn (hopefully today) how to upload pictures. Blogger does not offer much in the way of cute, girly or creative templates. So stay tuned for a much needed THE HOBBY MOMMY MAKEOVER!

  1. Love it already! I've got to get with you about the tutus. I wanted my daughter's 1st birthday to be a tutu theme, but felt restricted with the beach venue. I decided to hold off until next years "trifecta" birthday celebration for the girls! Keep it coming!

  3. I would give up Nacho Cheese Doritos to have a tub that size. And a hot water tank large enough to fill it with hot water! I'll take mine without poop though, thanks.

  4. I settled for pink and green polka dots on assorted sizes of plastic and galvanized buckets. Still very cute and I'll keep you posted for sure!

  5. Hi! Thanks for posting on my blog (I'm curious as to how you found it...)! I saw this post yesterday but didn't have time to finish reading or comment, but I definitely think poop is a good enough reason to start a blog! Blogging is a wonderful hobby, and quite cathartic. I look forward to reading more!
