TuTus and CuppyCakes

HAPPY OCTOBER!

Well it's official...summer is over. (insert Taps here)
My mourning ended as soon as I realized that Halloween is just around the corner! Some folks go large with Halloween, some folks...not so much. I however, have X-TRA large ambitions for this year! Stay tuned....

I've been breaking in my new Brother brand, Project Runway Ltd. Edit. sewing machine this week. I've completed a few projects and wanted to showcase a couple of them in today's Blog. So naturally, the first thing I needed to do was conduct a photo shoot. I asked (bribed) my 2 (nearly 3) year old Princess to help me with this project.
First Issue-Wardrobe!
Princess Raegan is exploring her independence through all the normal ways little ones do. The first issue we encounter is WARDROBE! I want her to wear a pink shirt, she wants to wear a different pink shirt. I say NO, she says NO. I realize she owns 7 pink shirts. We eventually work it out.
Now, for the bottoms. I want her to wear pink bottoms, she wants to wear a different pair of pink bottoms. I say NO, she says NO. I realize she owns 5 pink bottoms. We work it out.
I show her the brand new cuppycake chef hat I want her to wear, she wants to wear a different hat. I say NO, she says NO. I realize she owns 9 hats. We finally work something out. (I need a nap now.)
Second Issue-Location!
I want to shoot outside, she wants to go in her room. I say NO, she says NO.......then it happens......"WHOOOOOAAAA!  WHOOOOOAAA!" I know what's coming...she's going down..."WHOOOOOAAA!".....PLOP!  Rubber Legs! There's my Princess, lying on the floor feigning broken legs...again!
Third Issue-The Bribe!
This, that, this that...We finally settle on Oreo cookies.
Fourth Issue-This is really the Non-Issue.
Every Mommy wants their little Princess to have pretty hair for pictures. Well, Princess Raegan won that battle a long time ago. I've accepted (begrudgingly) that she will be her beautiful, natural, blonde, fluffy-hair self (sans hairbows and "pretty's") until SHE is ready! ;) Now, I KNOW  we're NOT supposed to compare our children, but I'm all about breaking the rules, (kinda, sorta...sometimes...maybe). Anyway, One of my other Princesses, Shaeli is 5 and has ALWAYS been into anything and EVERYTHING beauty. She loves to pose for pictures, invents her own poses and wardrobe changes are mandatory. I DIGRESS...

CuppyCake Chef Hat!
Earlier in the week we made a trip to Joann Fabrics and picked up this adorable Cupcake print fabric.

I found the pattern online. Copyright laws prevent me from sharing the pattern however NOT from creating and even selling the cute hats. Here is the website for the FREE pattern download.

Princess Ballerina TuTu!
I am a self-confessed tulle lover! I love anything tulle and love to make tutu's. Up to this point, I have been creating the no-sew style tutu. Yesterday I picked up a pattern from a seller on etsy.com for a sewn tutu. The store name was Pattern Play. I couldn't wait to whip up a new style of tutu for Princess Raegan!

She may be dressed head to toe in pretty pink, she may wear a Princess Gown or Tutu EVERYWHERE, but get her outside and she still wants to dig in the dirt and up her nose! ;)

For all you expert sewers out there, you may have already noticed....yes! I still have a little to learn about something called Directional Sewing...LOL

Princess Raegan will celebrate her 3rd birthday in early November. The birthday party theme will be TuTus & CuppyCakes, inspired from this weeks Hobby Mommy creations and the recent trend in everything cupcake. I will soon order the BigTopCupcake.com. It looks AHHMAZING! I better find an apron pattern...fast!

  1. Cute cute CUTE! I wish we lived closer. The business we could do together....

Oh, and you don't need an apron pattern. Make your own pattern. Easy peasy. In related news, a friend bought two custom aprons from me and when I brought them to the office for delivery, they were shown around to the cube-mates, I got orders for 2 more! Woo hoo!

Who woulda thought that the two of us would end up so... domestic?
